CUSTOM DESIGNS PROCESS
How does this all work?
Start by looking through our gallery for inspiration. You might want to start with one of our designs as a
starting point and we can personalize from there; or, create an entirely new concept that is especially
for your event.
Each invitation design begins with a personal consultation. The consultation may be in person,
over the phone or via email. In-home appointments can also be arranged.
Please note: A typical consultation lasts 60 - 90 minutes
CK Paper Designs works closely with you to pick your personal tone by choosing color,
layout, style and sizes to create an original one-of-a-kind elegant and sophisticated designs that
are sure to leave a lasting impression. * Please note you are not limited to these example colors
and fonts, these are merely just starting points.
The next step is to fill out our client design questionnaire, which we ask you to fill out to give us
some insight into your event, style preference etc. When we’ve received your questionnaire, we’ll
put together some past samples, general design ideas, colours, and materials to refer to during
We'll discuss your event, your style and your vision for your dream invitation. You'll have a chance to
look through our stock colour swatch decks, the full Envelopments® range of invite shapes and sizes
(as well as paper products from a number of other vendors) and samples of our past work. Together
we’ll use the details and inspiration that are most important to you to create a design that reflects your
personality and sets the tone for your special event.
When your consultation is completed, you may choose to request a quote. Your quote will be emailed to
you within 48 hours.
CK Paper Designs provides invoices that reflect your choices while keeping within your budget.
When we have agreed on the price and product selection and are ready to place your custom order a
$50.00 deposit is required. This will be applied towards the final
CK Paper Designs accepts payment by cash, check or credit card. For credit card payments, you
will be sent a PayPal invoice via email.
The design process begins as soon as the deposit is received. If you have not yet chosen your wording
for your invitation and inserts, you will have access to our secure client site which contains wording
examples and other resources. When we have received your wording, your custom design will be
created incorporating the discussions and choices made during your consultation.
Your invitation suite will be designed in phases. CK Paper Designs begins to design the original pieces,
using the text that the client has supplied. We will start with main invitation first before adding the other
enclosures. This allows a great deal of attention and detail to ensure that the fonts and graphics meet
the clients expectations before moving onto the other coordinating pieces.
During the design process, you will receive proofs via email in PDF format. Please review them
with anyone that will be involved in the decision-making process.
Have changes? No problem - we’ll work with you ‘till its right (note: two revisions are included at no
cost and additional revisions will be charged a nominal fee). When your full design is finished, a
complete digital proof will be emailed to you including every piece of your invitation suite.
Then it's your turn to proofread carefully and notify us of any errors. Once you’ve given your go-ahead,
we’ll create a full physical sample of your invitation, using the exact papers and embellishments you’ve
chosen. You can come and view your sample in our studio, or we can mail your sample to you directly,
if time permits.
When the client and CK Paper Designs has reach a point where all pieces have been created and art
approved, CK Paper Designs will email a "final proof". This is the electronic document you need to
give one last look at and approval (You will provide your approval on our Final Proof Approval form.
before going to the press. You have one last chance for a revision at no charge.
The production process takes approximately 3 days - 2 weeks from the time of your final approval,
based on the complexity of your invitation suite and the number of invitations ordered. Production
times may also vary based on the season, involvement of additional vendors or special services etc.
It is important to review the timeline provided in your custom order contract, as anything that is your
responsibility to provide to CK Paper Designs (eg. wording for invitations, guest list for addressing,
approvals etc.) that is not provided by the date listed may cause a delay in the delivery of your invitations.
PICK UP & DELIVERY
Final payment must be made on delivery or pickup (for personal delivery by CK Paper Designs or
client pickup). When pick-up or delivery is not an option, you can have your order shipped via
Priority USPS at no fee to you.
